Our Dispute Resolution Department is headed by partner Harminder Sandhu.
The theme running through all of our work is ‘Risk Management’, whether it be advising on a business sale, preparing employment contracts or drafting commercial contracts. We recognise the importance of identifying potential risks early on and thereby controlling the ultimate cost to our clients. To this end, we work closely with our clients, maintaining regular contact and keeping them updated on changes in the law which will affect their businesses, whether detrimentally or for the better.
When disputes cannot be avoided, our aim is to resolve them in a way which avoids significant expenditure by our clients in terms of both time and resources. Our objective is to resolve disputes in our clients’ best interests as quickly and cost effectively as possible, always recognising the damaging effect any dispute could have on our clients’ businesses.
Our dispute resolution team undertakes a wide range of complex and high value litigation including injunctive proceedings, disputes arising from breaches of directors’ duties, shareholder disputes, derivative claims and serious white collar fraud claims on behalf of both claimants and defendants. Insurance litigation, including professional negligence claims, is also a key focus of the department.
We provide initial advice on all disputes for free and aim to formulate an appropriate strategy in the early stages. Thereafter, we provide cost estimates at every key stage of the dispute in order that clients have certainty in relation to costs at all times.
We are keen advocates of all forms of alternative dispute resolution, in particular mediation and arbitration. We will seek to find the most appropriate method in every matter we undertake, with a view to achieving a commercially acceptable resolution as quickly as possible.
